Sexual Health

Sexual Health is a state of physical, emotional, mental and social well-being in relation to sex. If you are currently sexually active, it is important for you to get all the facts about how your sexual health can affect you now and in the future. The choices you make today can either have a positive or negative impact on your tomorrow.

An STD or STI is caused by a virus, parasite, fungus, or bacterium that can be passed from one person to another through intimate or sexual contact. While some can be cured, others may only be treated. Furthermore, there are a few, like genital herpes, that will remain with you for the rest of your life.

Here are some of the different infections currently known. We have conveniently placed a Quick Facts sheet on each of these topics behind this Sexual Health tab.

  • Chlamydia
  • Genital Herpes
  • Gonorrhea
  • HIV (virus causing AIDS)
  • Human Papillomavirus (HPV) /Genital Warts
  • Syphillis
  • Trichomoniasis
